Carrie White, Ph.D.

Dr. White's area of sub-emphasis in her Clinical Ph.D program was Couples Therapy. Her doctoral dissertation was an original empirical study of married couples which identified factors associated with loss of sexual desire and perhaps more importantly identified variables which seem to foster desire and enhance intimacy. Dr. White's additional training specific to marital and sexual issues was based on the theoretical tenants of Dr. David Schnarch's Passionate Marriage® approach. Although she is well versed in Dr. John Gottman's principles and Dr. Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy, she tends to work with couples from the Passionate Marriage® approach. From this viewpoint, marriage and relationships are seen as a "people-growing process;" the trials experienced in relationships are viewed as opportunities for each partner to become a better version of him or herself.
